Another one for the rocks
Unable to face the day
When reality comes and knocks
And wants to make me pay.
It’ll never take me
(My mind is my own to choose)
I see the world through glasses
(My life is my own to lose).
Running in circles
The walls are closing in
Against truth I have no weapon
No choice but to let it win.
A present in ruins meets my eyes
A greeting filled with dismay
What have I done to cause this,
How did it end this way?
Regret over all (and constant)
Afraid of who I really was
Lost what made me stable
Lost what got me through.
Her perfume haunts my senses
(I don’t know where she’s gone)
No sign of my offences
(Except my empty home).
From the ashes of my depression
A new man is born today
Unclouded, without confession
This man is on his way.

Another Day, Another Death, Another Notch Upon My Bed
One way to silence you
The easiest way out
Tie you up and gag you
Take this blade to your throat.
When I feast I can feel
Their purity course through me
Their blood is warm and convincing
I need their life to be.
Let you out of my nightmare?
I could never allow that
You’re trapped and you’re breathing
Dying but still intact.
I’ll rip your flesh from your bones
I’ll show you so you cry out
And you’ll know that
It was you who betrayed yourself
(You can never forgive yourself).
Teasing you and telling you
The knife on your skin
Touching you and loving you
Open up and let it in.
The first one’s always the hardest
You’ll soon get used to the pain
In time it will soothe you
We’ll both be whole again.
Welcome the agony
Feel your body burn
Love the torment
For the dagger, yearn.

Anger Be Now Your Song, Immortal One
You fight to live
Human bait
Consign to death
Accept your fate.
Face the demons you fear
No more
Give up resistance
Refrain from this war.
Lay down your arms
Your weapons of fire
Commit no more men
To burn on the pyre.
Young though they are
Valiant at heart
Dying for a cause
They didn’t hope to start.
Forgetting your place
In this world that we built
Your confidence in numbers
And the sword in your hilt.
You rise too high
Proud men of the earth
Remember your past
That haunts you from birth.
You take on the Powers
You cannot hope to win
Though your splendour is much
And you make a great din.
We care for you all
Though our ruin you long hail
Safe in your warm halls
Your courage helped by ale.
When you face us you will tremble
The earth itself will shake
Our majesty, unending
The hard path you did take.
Poor humans
Your greed is deadly
Mortality turned into a curse
Your lives devoid of understanding
How a blessing can be reversed.

An Observation on the Way We Cannot Be (Hope is A Sure Route to Disaster)
If I’m going to be honest
And true to my word
What I write down here
Will never be repeated
And will never be heard.
(It takes a lifetime to bleed to death from heartache)
A path awaits me
The longest I will know
Decisions disobey me
No choice but to go.
Alone? One more life.
Goodbye. Endless strife.
Forgetting the beauty
Though it is more
I only know my duty
And the letters I tore.
No faith in giving.
Of love conquers all.
Invented by dreamers
To explain why we fall.
I could spend my life searching
For the only one
A waste of breath, and hurting
To do what will get done.
Hope is a vision
Of what we cannot be
In life we are restricted
In death we are set free.
My musings go unnoticed
We’re all too quick to hide
Another weakness man must face
We can’t disguise our pride.
Life begins
And then it’s over
Barely time to settle in.
But if I find
A four leaf clover
I’ll take on life and always win.
And true to my word
What I write down here
Will never be repeated
And will never be heard.

A Voyage of Self-Recovery (and What I Could Have Been)
The final script’s been returned
My role is smaller than before
I’ve been only betrayed
Nothing’s stopping me from walking (out of the door).
Trust so easily broken
I wonder what it meant
They’re above the social contract?
Rules so easily bent.
Sitting on a cliff top
I can see the world
Wishing I was flying
For my wings to be unfurled.
I need no one by myself
I can get me through
Leave behind this frail existence
Discover me anew.
(A voyage of self-recovery)
The pieces of my life
Scattered far and wide
Shattered by a knife.
Slow but sure
My path is true
I know the way
That people do.
To whom it may concern:
If I am not again
On this earth seen
Know what I was and will be
And what I could have been.
My role is smaller than before

He Who Defends Everything Defends Nothing
A thought converts to words
Easily?
I must beg
To differ, I must.
A poor man will content himself
With a cloak of simple things
Dreams and hopes of grandeur
Are far and fly on wings.
What can I see as I attempt to spill these thoughts?
Grasping at the impossible
My hand poised on the clear, crisp page
Pen hovering, nervous of denting this miracle.
Why? How? What have I convinced myself of?
I have uttered cruel words under bated breath
Yet still I hold my tongue
To one my story changes
Never seen alone.
If sensibility is valued in proper folk
Can we say where the value lies
In common men also?
Have we lost all ties?
Unable to form an opinion
Of our own, minds
Closed, not great
I’ll leave, leave you to rot.
Forget the gentle spring time
‘Twill comfort you no more
Forsake your father’s language
Wander, shore to shore.
Darkness clouds my judgement
Tiptoe here and there
Your eyes, lonely flowers
At a summer fair.
Believe me
An old man’s plea
In his waning years.
The shadows have abandoned the horizon
A new day can rightly shine
A pool glistens in the half-light
I came and conquered mine.
A voice to bury the sun
Rings out strong, bright and true
Beautiful in autumn’s glade
Shine on the golden hue.

O, He Dared to Dream!
The first and last words
I received from your lips
Dashed all my worst hopes
A disaster for ships.
See no more sunsets
Tell no more lies
Feel no more raindrops
Fall from the skies.
Siren
You Harpy!
You daughter of Hell!
Leave me to my thoughts
Far from your spell.
A smile so deceiving
Your eyes, pools of jade
Pick me up, I’m leaving
I wish I could’ve stayed.
I once knew a boy
No more do we meet
He dared to dream
No more do we meet…
Trapped, uninvited
I can’t remember my home
My lifestyle, my family
No recollection of my own.
Extinction
Before long
Discarded
Recalled in no song.
Lost to the world
For daring to try
A fate unfit for any
Except those willing to die.

How Can the Beautiful Ride to War When They Know That They Will Never Return?
In full gait of war
Far ahead he rode
Confidence unerring
Fortune favours the bold.
Layered shield held high
The mighty emblem did shine
No man could mistake him
For another lord or low swine.
Sword, bright and glorious
Calling all foes to flee
“Stay, and face divine wrath
You will all fall to me”.
Embrace the dust
Your life has reached its end
War begets war
Some things time cannot mend.
Alas! Behold!
A great host approaches
The horizon marks their path
Men will find comfort in others
And the high flames of their own hearths.
Dry sweet tears from gentle cheeks
O, proud warriors of the Sun
Ready yourselves for battle
On this day that’s lost and won.
Heed the horn and clear voice cry
Into battle, disaster nigh!
Immortal song, for lives to come
Paint us bright, every one.
Far ahead he rode
Confidence unerring
Fortune favours the bold.
Layered shield held high
The mighty emblem did shine
No man could mistake him
For another lord or low swine.

(And Death Became My Friend)
One by one we’re falling down
Sworn by oath to defend the crown
Against all odds, holding the tide
The knowledge of truth is on our side.
Wait until dawn
For the horses to come
Slaughter from the rear
This day will be won.
A duty and an honour (wholly fulfilled)
Sheath my sword (as is to be willed)
Find my long way back home
Only to find there a broken throne.
My kin and my neighbours
Strung up or for the dogs
(Dead before my feet)
The village that I loved
Scarred beyond belief.
Burning with revenge
My only solace so:
I will kill the beasts that did this
I will watch their last breath go.
In battle I am ruthless
Like a demon released from hell
My enemies will remember me and fear me
For them I will ring death’s bell.
Hunting those cowards without rest
Putting my body to the test
Forsaken all thought (and fear of steel)
Only the pain of my family do I feel.
I whisper to my wife
I tell them I’m coming home
I feel the breeze of their passing
I see the skin on their bones.
A preparation, slow and calm
I ready myself for the grave
But first to inflict mortal harm
(A legend I shall pave).
A fire burning in the valley
I come to say goodbye
With destruction and great slaughter
These men wake up to die.
My sword did draw from shameful men
Bright blood on that cold day
I watched them plead their lives
As I cast their souls away.
(With victory came defeat
My lifeblood leaving me.)
For once in my whole life
I’d found peace in a world of war
(And as I lay dying)
I saw my wife pass from the shore.
Sworn by oath to defend the crown
Against all odds, holding the tide
The knowledge of truth is on our side.

Opinion is Void. Repeat After Me; Opinion is Void.
Repeat after me;
Forget how to dream
Wake up in cold sweat
Do nothing but scream.
Ignore the faint music
It’s not for your ears
Feel all the lines
That tell of your years.
Breathe in the lies
The forgettable sins
Target the skies
And step on the pins.
Repeat after me;
You’re tired and weak
Washed up and jaded
You’ve long passed your peak.
Look at them all
Oblivious to life
Machines; steel and hardware
While suffering is rife.
Dig deep
Tell me when
You fell asleep
Your life began.
Repeat after me;
You own not your soul
Silent and restless
You failed in your goal.
Hope everlasting
Destroy not your heart
The world is plain around us
Devoid of love and art.
Opinion is void.
Repeat after me;
Forget how to dream.
Forget how to dream
Wake up in cold sweat
Do nothing but scream.
Ignore the faint music
